Hello

A little bit about Charlotte

During her teens Charlotte Woodford attended the Centre for Young Musicians Saturday music school where she was lucky to learn with a fantastic concert pianist. Her second study was the cello which gave her the opportunity to join the London Schools Symphony Orchestra. At the time, her place at CYM was funded by the local council. It was a great experience and she is hopeful that local and national governing priorities will shift in this direction again for school children. By supporting people to enjoy active engagement with music she hopes to help people develop the same passion and understanding that music should not only be considered a core subject but an essential part of health and wellbeing, intelligent learning, creativity, a holistic education and a fulfilled life - regardless of whether or not you want to be a musician.

Charlotte graduated from Birmingham University in Music and Philosophy in 2001 and began exploring relative solfa with the exceptional Da Capo Foundation and the British Kodaly Academy. Many years later a good friend from university Ruth Routledge of sing2health trained her as a choir director for community choirs, which has been wonderful. Initially with three community choirs in London, she now lives a joyful and busy life in Mid Wales running two community choirs, baby music sessions, singing for lung health, online musicianship through solfa, one-to-one vocal coaching and piano teaching, and facilitating laughter yoga. She is currently undertaking an intensive vocal coaching accreditation with Vocal Process and continues to be an active partner of the Da Capo Foundation, a member of the Natural Voice Network, and to learn Welsh.

Charlotte is keen for everyone to participate in active music making, and not only encourages people to join her own groups but also aims to raise money, awareness and networking for other local music initiatives and organisations. Community projects and musical, artistic, dance or any other collaborations are always welcome. Past collaborations include with Maldwyn String Orchestra, Zu Aerial acrobatics, Ffonic, North Powys Youth Band, Credu young Carers learning to use liquid light effects under the tutelage of Erin Hughes, Artes Mundi through fine art exhibitions at Newtown’s wonderful Oriel Davies and Caersws’ Mid Wales Arts, the Newtown Food Festival… and many more.
